NORWICH CITY vs CHELSEA (1230 ko)
With Chelsea languishing above us on goal difference only, the pressure is on Junior to start banking some serious points. Home against today’s opponents might have offered a better chance of that, but the pies would be inferior. The Canaries’ target for the season may be survival, but woe betide any team that underestimates them. Should be an entertaining opener for today’s fixtures. Away win.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs SOUTHAMPTON
It’s hard to see either of these teams not flirting with the drop zone for part, if not much, of the season. But both have proved themselves to be fighters neither bereft of skills nor lacking the fight to make a decent go of this campaign. So this should be a good old battle with little to choose between the teams. Draw.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs CRYSTAL PALACE
There’s been something more than usually doleful in the demeanour of Roy Hodgson in these first weeks of the season. Not so for OG Solskjaer, who will be quietly satisfied with his team’s start. The Pogba saga notwithstanding. This should be an easy, straightforward three points for the hosts. Home win.

SHEFFIELD UNITED vs LEICESTER CITY
An intriguing encounter that could see the return of Ravel Morrison to the big time. Amateur and not-so amateur pundits alike predicted mighty things for Leicester this season, but they’ve made an indifferent start. (Familiar?) Brendan Rogers will view this as three points for the taking. Sheffield are still basking in the confident glow their restoration to the top flight. Although this is a meeting of two fairly unfashionable teams, they are both teams that work hard and this has all the ingredients to be a cracking game of football. Draw.

WATFORD vs WEST HAM UNITED
Two sides with immense potential, but that have amassed just one point and an aggregate goal difference of minus nine between them so far. That’s quite an achievement. Mark Noble has reportedly recovered from injury and his presence, and orbiting capacity, may prove to be the missing link for the Irons. Our defence continues to give rise to the greatest concern, while theirs similarly offers cause for optimism. Since that game at Upton Park a few years ago when Troy Deeney inspired a second half fight back, our performances against Watford have been poor. Deeney won’t play today, though. We’re good enough, ugly enough and sufficiently loaded with ability to get our season up and running today. But will we be brave enough? Away win.

LIVERPOOL vs ARSENAL (1730 ko)
What a corker to end the day with. There’s something about Arsenal’s first couple of games that suggests a much improved season, while Liverpool look determined to finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy again. Arsenal seem weak in defence, something that a ravenous Roberto Firmino can feast on. But in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the visitors have their own substantial goal threat up front – particularly with Allison still out. Home win.

Re: Saturday football
I think Pochettino knows their window has closed.
Probably confirmed for him up at Man City where they were completely and utterly outclassed.
They could have won the Champions league (albeit making the final with ludicrous luck) and should have won the league in the Leicester season or before Guardiola and Klopp turned up.
I still think Man U will realise the Solsjkaer error soon enough and that the Zidane return at Real will end relatively quickly and he will take one of those.
At Spurs Eriksen is on his way and Kane will run out of patience eventually.

Was it a foul though?

Watch the replay and look at Kane instead of Laselles.

Swear he wasn’t touched and dived

Re: Saturday football
Come on guys, even if I hate spurs that has to be a penalty.
He trips, or stumbles, and throws himself forward. Why should a player avoid that. That's the same with almost any other tackle

kylay 8:00 Sun Aug 25
Re: Saturday football
Wow, cannot believe that wasn't given. Defender clearly slipped and had no intent, but pens are given all the time for less contact.

Very happy Tottenham haven't weaseled their way level on a pen but I'd be apoplectic if that was a decision against us.

Re: Saturday football
No penalty on the VAR. Looked like Kane changed direction and fell over Lascelles. Could have easily avoided him and got a shot away - cheating cunt.
